You know, I have to admit that it's getting harder to come up with topics. There's just a finite amount of things on W-H to be covered, and with no updates, I begin to run out of topics. So, if there's anything you'd like me to cover (or mock), go ahead and leave a comment or get in touch with me somehow, and I'll see what I can do.
On the pack front, Shimmer is finally back to normal, although not due to staff intervention. I guess they got tired of waiting and figured it out themselves; after all, they were stuck invisible for ages. That seems to be becoming the theme for packs - if your pack is screwed up, fix it yourself; the staff won't help. Hardly encouraging.
For those of you who don't go on the map, you might want to take a look - apparently Guestview now owns the world. What exactly this means... Not sure. Could be a bug, could be something on Karl's part... It doesn't make much of a difference, though. I mean, we weren't getting anything out of territories, so it's hardly harmful. Although if it wasn't done by Karl, that probably means we won't see it fixed anytime soon.
I may have linked this a few months back, but I don't remember... Eh, it deserves a second mention, if so. If you aren't already reading The Adventures of Dr. McNinja, you should start immediately. To quote the TV Tropes page on it, it includes: "Zombies, ghost wizards, vampires, resurrected Ben Franklin and Hitler, drugs that confer ninja skills, Headless Horsemen, superheroes, a disease that turns you into Paul Bunyan, and cloned dinosaurs, thieving lobsters and a mafia led by a radical dirtbiker (... and a world-ending Mayan tennis machine. Seriously.)" You can hardly get more awesome than that, can you?
Disclaimer: Those offended by mild language, some gore, chainsaw nunchuks, and Mexican bandits riding velcioraptors should not click the above link.
Anyway... This entry is fairly short, and just addressed to one of my pet peeves...
Go look at the W-H main board on the forums. The vast majority of the threads are 'Show me your X' or something similar (side note: Don't click the thread by Aiden on the first page). Personally, I just find this annoying.
Sure, it was fine the first time someone did it (I think Sea was the first), and maybe the second time... but now it's like people are going out of their way to find an emote or whatever that no one has asked for before just so they can make a thread on it. It's practically spamming, and it's completely pointless.
First off, it's ridiculously uncreative. I don't appreciate copying anything other people are doing/have done, period. Whether it's a forum thread, or a signature expression/chat move (used to be fairly common), or a profile, or breathing (seriously. Stop breathing already. You're copying me, *@^&*#$). Or names, for that matter. God, I hate people who ripped their names from books and games.
Well, on second thought, I just hate people. But you get the point.
Second, the majority of people doing it are just idiots trying to go with the flow or whatever. I mean, half the people starting the threads don't even have customs. The stupidity of it all just makes me want to stab people... more than usual, at least.
And third, it's all pointless - you don't need people to post with their emotes. Just look at the image file:
http://www.wolf-haven.com/images/wolf-forum/ID/ID-Neutral.gif
Take that URL, put in the user ID where it says to, and change the emote name to whatever you want (the images use the same names that are in the dropdown list in your profile). Note that it only works for users with customs, obviously.
There. You have the images. Now stop spamming the freaking forum already. We don't need more threads that basically just exist to boost post count (especially since it's pointless in the first place). Because, honestly, it'd be nice if forums in the main board actually had something to do with the game (couldn't resist!). I mean, how in the world did anyone come up with the idea that how your emote looks is relevant to the game, anyway?
The part that annoys me the most about this is that I actually have to write an entry on it. I mean, this should be so obvious, but no...

I've emailed in twice about my points for my side, which haven't been restored. Sadly, I've been ignored. This is internet theft. The same thing has happened for two of my friends accounts. Bullshit, isn't it?
You'd think with all the donations that W-H receives on a weekly basis (I'd wager it's easily between £50-£100), Karlos could afford to hire a real programmer. Of course, by doing that, he'd effectively negate his "But I don't have tiiime!" bullshit and wouldn't have any excuse for the broken, ineffective, or shoddily-outlined features currently plaguing that game.
On that note, where DO the donations go? Because it's certainly not going towards the game, or else we'd of had a more powerful server to handle the traffic ages ago.
Methinks we're just lining Karl's pockets - you'll notice in the TOS how the section about donations was changed to read, "The creators of Wolf-Haven will spend the donation money as they see fit." whereas it used to be all about using the donations for making the game better and helping animal-based charities.
Talk about customs. :3
As in, like, to not make them sparkly or whatever.
You linked MsNinja in your profile a while ago, great comic. :)
I agree with you- people are making threads just for their 15 minutes.
By the way, the link you put is invalid. We've got Phoenix telling us it isn't real...
Yes, the link is invalid. You're supposed to stick the user ID where it says 'ID', both times. For example, in my case you'd replace it with 168.

As for customs, that could make an interesting topic... hm...
I'm not surprised that the site is going absolutely nowhere. People blindly donate to the site without having the least idea on how it is spent.
I'm very sad to see that W-H has came down to such a level. I actually used to like leveling and playing.
